  • Very Disappointing

Simply put, the app won’t remember which cities were purchased and there is no support whatsoever. I appreciate Elizabeth’s recommendations but this app simply doesn’t work.

This is one of the worst apps I have purchased. It doesn’t do anything other than give you a list you can get anywhere for free.
  • Love it! Looking forward to using it next month in Rome!

I read everything I can about Italy and food and am so glad to have the app where all Elizabeth’s experience is condensed in an app format to take with me. On a visit 7 years ago, I had clippings and ripped pages from books to consult but her updated app is so accessible and personal. Great companion to her new book which I have also downloaded to my iPad.
  • Updated version faulty

I downloaded this app before the update for my upcoming trip to Italy. Purchased 3 of the guides and seemed to work fine. Since the update the app is very slow to load and I can’t seem to download the guides for offline viewing. Great potential for an awesome guide but needs to probably be updated again
  • Very useful

Easy to use. It will take you to wonderful places the other guides miss.
  • Waste of money

    By MadderThanHell
I installed this app and purchased the city guides for Venice, Florence, and Rome prior to our trip to Italy. I then downloaded the off-line data. Prior to departing for our trip, I clicked on the update for off-line info for each of the 3 cities I had purchased: 1 installed correctly; but the other 2 started to update, but would never complete downloading. When I got to Italy and tried to use the app for the off-line data for the cities I had purchased, all I ever got was a blank screen. A total waste of money.
  • Not worth paying for

    By Foodie fail
It seemed that I couldn’t get the full features of the app without paying, but once I did, nothing in the app changed. I could never search by location and I could never download it for offline use, although it kept telling me it was downloading. For two weeks.
  • Not impressed

This was recommended by a travel book. I tried it for several cities. It listed a lot of things that weren't restaurants. I didn't really see much use for it. The one restaurant I tried to get into it had the hours wrong we kept showing up in the waiters were looking upset at us for trying to get in when the app said they should be open. Never used any other recommendations but did find lots of wonderful food in Italy anyway.
  • Virtually useless

This app was a waste of money for me on my recent trip to Rome. On the technical side, I purchased the Rome package. It would load on my iPad 2 Air, but not on my iPhone SE. I didn't want to be lugging an iPad around with me, so its use was limited to where the iPad was; i.e. In the hotel room and lobby. Eighty percent of the app's potential functionality was lost right off the bat. At first I was disappointed, but after reading on my iPad how superficial and general the information provided by the app was, my disappointment at its lack of functionality magically evaporated, replaced by a vague feeling of, once again, being had by an app's author whose product substantially undershoots its implied content. My advice: don't bother with this; at least the Rome package.

Don't plan your trip to Italy without this APP or her book Eating Rome. Take the time to explore, read, take notes, and then map out your trip. Foodies, it's worth every minute spent. You can't (she doesn't!!!) go wrong.
