This is the complicated version of the gold standard. The definitions are accurate, of course, and, the opportunity for in-app purchases is discreet. No Pop-ups. yet...
  • Even pronunciation cost 19.99 Dollars!

Too amazing for that prices, are you serious guy?
  • Awful design and starting layout

When you start a dictionary application the first thing you should see is a DICTIONARY. The app shows a crappy overcrowded page. Unusable counterintuitive counterproductive.
  • Not worth a fraction of the sale price.

I wanted a true OED experience but what is offered is less robust than most free dictionaries. Complete waste of money.

I bought an Oxford Advanced Learner dictionary at first and found out that was for beginning level of non native speakers. So I was advised to check this one. I used and I like it so far for the way to present the words explanation; somehow, the sounds are a little awkward to me, which might be my preference of British English. I am not sure for that I can trust the pronunciation. Otherwise, it is easy to use.

    The best app ever
  • Needed: “Contact the Editors” button

    By 9robins
The original OED was put together not by the Oxford philologists alone; they corresponded with English-speaking word-watchers who sent in their findings, enabling the Dictionary’s editors to fine-tune matters such as a word’s first appearance in the language; etymology; shades of meaning; etc. (One of the most zealous contributors was said to be someone serving a life sentence in a British prison.) The ability of speakers of any background, social class, or occupation to contribute helped make the OED The online OED provides an opportunity to advance the study of these aspects of the English language in a depth of detail not previously possible. But where is the “Contact Us” button that should let online readers send in their own observations? To a greater extent than many other languages, the English language constantly grows and changes, extending its tentacles into emerging disciplines and new technologies. Its evolution is nurtured by scientists, poets, parents, and car mechanics. It’s an absorbent language, able to mop up useful terms from foreign sources. Because English is so dynamic, people most likely encounter written or spoken words that they don’t find in the online OED. This is why they need to be able to query the online OED about such encounters. Many such reports or questions would likely be duplicates. To deal with these, a FAQs section, linked to the word(s) in question and/or arranged alphabetically, could be useful. * Language is not unlike a slime mold, whose behavior in sink drains led the great neuroscientist Eric Kandel to his insights on neurodevelopment. The words you recommend i dont need it at all , they aren’t that useful that they should be. And it’s so annoying that we can’t have the sound an pronounciations without premium account! It IS necessary.
  • Don't update

    By Bruno Flausino
Since I updated this dictionary, I don't have access to the sounds anymore. I can't just believe that..... They want me to pay again! DO NOT BUY IT, AFTER SOME MONTHS YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY AGAIN!
