  • A bug, and lacking some basic necessities.

I love the Google Docs web app. It’s probably my favorite word processor of all time, and my experience dates back to the WordStar days. The iOS app on iPad is a bit of a letdown, though. I don’t expect every feature and function of the web app to be in the iOS version, but: - Basics like a tab key and a means to make first-line or hanging paragraphs are missing. - No way to change page margins. - The toolbar is fat and has a lot of blank space in it, leaving less space for the text area. - Typing lag when using “Suggest Changes” is terrible—it can take several seconds for each character to register—and makes that feature virtually unusable. - No footnotes or endnotes. Maybe not a deal breaker for most, but I think it’s odd that if you open a doc with existing footnotes in it, they can be copied and pasted, and the app will even number them correctly. Seems footnote capability is in it, but just not enabled with a menu item for it. The new table of contents feature works great, and the document outline has always been great too, but I do hope Google will address Docs’ shortcomings soon.

Not intuitive. Far too difficult to understand how files are being stored, moved. Can’t understand what is in cloud vs what on my phone. Will not open password protected files on phone. Very frustrating.

I love it! I can type wherever I’m at and just log into my account and print it without needing a flash drive.

The Google Docs app has allowed me to access and review my document on the go. It has an intuitive design and most, if not all, of the features on the desktop version are available on the app. Really impressed with this app!
