Winner of the 2014 Innov8 For health competition, Wholesome is the only experience that collects healthy recipes from the web, allows you to track them, and gives personal recommendations to optimize your nutrition. Wholesome scores recipes out of 10 points on their healthfulness. Points are added for nutrition density and deducted for things like too much sugar or sodium. Scores provide the feedback that allow you to compare recipes and make conscious decisions about what you eat. • Almost perfect

    By Shelleship
I love this app. It took a little time to figure out but now it is so helpful. Most apps only give macronutrient info, but this one tracks vitamins, minerals, and more. My one complaint is that when entering new recipes there is nowhere to note serving size. It just asks how many servings there are, so if you want to use someone else’s recipe you only know the nutritional info for a serving, but not how much is in a “serving” (1/2 cup, 2 Tbsp, 1 cup, etc.) so it makes it tough to enter how much you ate. Otherwise, a wonderful app!
  • Love concept but not enough foods

    By acelestecapretto
I love the idea of this app, but it is lacking a lot of foods. I also can’t figure out the recipe piece and the faq is not super helpful. Hopefully, bugs will get worked out and more foods will be added!
  • Good but could be better with a few changes

    By Jaboclee
This is an excellent app for showing you the actual nutrition content and essential vitamins/minerals/steroids/flavinoids etc. I’m very satisfied with the nutrition information that it gives you-however I find The app lacking information on many basic food items-especially alcoholic beverages. It would be extremely helpful if the programmers would add a UPC code scanner.
  • Worthless

Practically worthless... You have to manually enter everything... i mean everything... Until they make data entry and calculations as seamless as in MyFitnessPal, it makes no sense downloading it
  • Not intuitive, not useful

    By Ocdlaw
You can’t add supplements, you can’t add things like carne asada or other common foods carnitas. It seems mostly geared toward commercial foods in its database but can’t figure out how to enter just ordinary food like beef.
  • WOW ! This has the food diary right !

    By Insomniac 247
This calculates & tracks ALL the vitamins, minerals and other micronutrients. The food database is excellent for REAL food, not just brand name processed foods like other apps. The user interface is excellent - very easy to find and enter what you’ve eaten for the day.
  • Perhaps unique?

I don’t know if similar apps with this type of approach are out there because I’ve been so pleased with this one for a couple of years now I’ve stopped looking around. It’s fascinating and fun too. The recipes are attractive and well presented. Everything is pretty user friendly and it can be customised also for individual needs. On the rare occasions when a bug happens the developers are in quick contact for a solution. Very pleased.
  • Highly recommend!

    By foodScienceFreak
This is a great app to keep track of micro and macro intake. There are some GUI changes I would like to see in regards to accessing foods that have been favorited. But other than simple changes like that this is a wonderful tool and I’d highly recommend it to anyone interested in engaging more closely with their food. My favorite feature is the “suggested foods to eat next.” This feature gives you suggestions for how to fill in the rest of your dietary needs for the day. Again, I am very satisfied with my purchase of Wholesome and highly recommend it.
  • Missing Basic Foods

Three stars for the theoretical ability to track micronutrients. I wanted to like this, but I don’t see the point of using a nutrition app that doesn’t know that turnips and collard greens exist. I’d expect there are quite a few other things too.
  • Bad customer service

    By Hoots12
App was awesome AT FIRST. But for the last month I have had issues with it not adding food to my diary and I have contacted the developer twice in two different formats and 0 response. Just bad customer service.
