Want the best dictionary of true English? I do. And I’ve been born, raised, and retired in New England these sixty five years. Enough said.
  • Not exactly what I was hoping for

I was expecting it to give the history of the word along with the definition, as I was told that's what to expect from the Oxford Dictionary. Also, the word of the day tends to go with a lot of common words and I was hoping it would give lesser known words. It’s a great dictionary, but doesn't really surpass anything you can get for free on the web these days.

Excellent reference; I use it several times almost every day. It has become essential to my work and general education
  • Too expensive

The pronunciation button doesn’t work, and not all somewhat common words are included. Way too expensive for what you get, unless all you wanted was the etymology. Also, it gets stuck on “thesaurus” and I have to always slide the button to put it back to “dictionary.” Finally, the silly “give me five stars” announcement appears every single time I use the app. I’d like my money back! Most expensive app I’ve ever bought, not worth the cost.

I marvel that within my pocket lies the equivalent of the two large tomes that stand as sentinels upon my desk, guarding me from making even more linguistic mistakes that seem to find their way into my drafts.
