GyPSy Guide’s narrated driving tour for the Road to Hana, Maui is an excellent way to enjoy all the benefits of a guided tour while you explore at your own pace. There are 140+ audio points that play automatically along the scenic drive, featuring the best things to see and do, stories, tips and driving directions. Professional tour guides share advice on how to prioritize your time at recommended “not to be missed” viewpoints, suggested side-trips and places of interest. Tours work offline, using free GPS signal and location services, so no data roaming, network, or wifi is required while touring. It’s Just Like Having a Tour Guide in Your Car™ WHAT TO EXPECT: The Road to Hana is one of the world’s most scenic drives and a popular sightseeing activity to see Maui’s spectacular waterfalls, black sand beaches, bamboo forests, lava rock formations and amazing ocean views as you wind your way through 620 curves and 59 bridges. If you prefer travelling independently, at your own pace, GyPSy Guide provides the best Road to Hana tour experience, along with the freedom to choose what you enjoy; squishing the black sand between your toes at Wai’anapanapa, hiking the Pipiwai Bamboo Trail, or maybe time to enjoy an extra slice of banana bread. You can’t help but cheer on the world class windsurfers at Ho’okipa. And you won’t need to worry about photoshopping the Rainbow Eucalyptus at the Ke’anae Arboretum or the stunning contrast between blue water and black lava rock at Ke’anae Peninsular. Take a moment to cool off with a quick swim at the pristine Hamoa Beach and see where Haleakala National Park descends from the summit to the sea and the “Seven Sacred Pools” of Oheo at the end of the drive. With such a long day of exploring (expect 8-12 hours), it’s important to know the 5 “not to be missed” stops, and the many more suggestions if you have time. Part of the secret to enjoying the journey is knowing how not to waste your time, and we have tips for that as well. On the return drive from Hana, we’ll point out the not to be missed stops again as well as tell you stories about Hawaii’s fascinating history and rich culture. Please note Highway #31 ‘backside route’ is not recommended for driving. Rental car insurance void. Road can be closed for repairs, mudslides and flash floods. WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Some of the highlights along the route include; • Ho’okipa Beach Park • Paia • Ke’anae Peninsular • Wai’anapanapa Park, Black Sand Beach • Hana • Hamoa Beach • Wailua Falls • Twin Falls • Upper Waikanai Falls (3 Bears) • Pools of O’heo (Seven Sacred Pools) • Pipiwai Bamboo Trail BATTERY USAGE: ++ Continued use of GPS/Location Services in the background increases battery usage. We strongly recommend taking a cigarette style (DC outlet) car charger. Avoid using a direct connection to the USB port of a rental vehicle. IPADS: ** iPad models must include a GPS chip. Please note that Apple only install these on the iPad Wifi + Cellular models. Wifi only iPad models have limited location service capabilities and are unable to play commentary automatically. DOWNLOADING: The apps are larger in size in order to work offline. You must be on wifi to download as the store may block the download over cellular networks. • Very informative - needs a bit more

    By Mrshawes18
The app was great. We loved to hear all the interesting stories and legends. They pointed out great places to stop. My only two “complaints” would be that a few times it would be hard to find the exact stop/turn off. I wish the app would ding to notify you or something. We missed a few stops because of it. I also wish that there was a written guide with it. There were some things that were shared I’d like to have the information for later. Overall, we really enjoyed this app/guide!
  • Best App Ever

This tour was amazing, the commentary was very accurate, entertaining, and fun! I will be looking into more tours from this app! I felt like me and the commentator were bffs after spending all day with him
  • Great!

This app was amazing for our road to Hana trip! We knew exactly where to stop and we learned a lot along the way! So worth the $7!!!
  • Time on the road maximized

Wow. This app made our trip so much more enjoyable and our stops, worthwhile! Tips on where to stop were helpful and history on the way back made the drive back interesting. The narrator was pleasant to listen to. One thing that I wish it did was that it worked like a regular GPS would and showed the turn by turn instead of the whole map also starting from my origin. Other than that, would definitely recommend this...get the full MAUI GUIDE instead.
  • Nice but basic

Having traveled the road to Hana a few times, I found the app entertaining. However, it really only shows the highlights which everyone already goes to. So when using this app, your not just following the crowd, you are the crowd! It misses some great hikes and waterfalls/pools which one can either find by using some basic travel books or just being curious and adventurous yourself. It also falsely claims that doing the full round (continuing the road past Hana and the ‘seven sacred pools’ to Kuna) is not allowed with a rental car. We received confirmation from Avis that this was no problem at all. As a basic app, somewhat interesting and entertaining to listen to, but I would suggest reading up on the trip beforehand and using a regular Maui travel guide to get you around.
  • Worth EVERY penny!

Perfect for the one-day adventurer taking the Hana Highway. I was SUPER impressed. I will definitely use this APP for other drives. Amazing functionality, great insight and comments along the way.

Excellent app- I felt safer knowing I had a guide with me. I would recommend to anyone. It helped me make the drive to Hana and feel like I had a tour service with me.
  • Like having an awesome guide in the car

Can’t say enough good things about the app. Works on GPS so you don’t need a cell signal which is good because you won’t have one. The road is still a challenging drive but the app gives you plenty of advance notice. We loved it!
  • Oaklandish

This was a great tour. I recommend it for everyone who goes on the road to Hana!!!
  • Don’t spend $30 in gas without this $7 app. Better than a bus your hands down.

Top notch, would have missed so much without it, would have stopped at lame places without it, plus a good bit of history for the drive back. Best $7 I’ve spent in Maui, hands down. You spent 6k to get here with your S.O., now spend another $7 on this. AMAZING.
