Description

Dark Sky is the most accurate source of hyperlocal weather information. With down-to-the-minute forecasts, you’ll know exactly when the rain will start or stop, right where you’re standing. (It’s like magic.) Featured in: New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Fast Company, Wired, and more. YOUR WEATHER, DOWN TO THE MINUTE Dark Sky is able to create forecasts for your precise location, giving you minute-by-minute predictions for the next hour and hour-by-hour forecasts for the next day and week. BEAUTIFUL WEATHER ANIMATIONS The same technology that powers Dark Sky’s predictions also allows us to make the world’s first perfectly smooth radar animation. Other apps show you a chunky slideshow that makes it nearly impossible to tell how storms are moving. But Dark Sky’s radar animation lets you see the actual path of the storm: how it moved in the past, and where it’s going in the future. PUSH NOTIFICATIONS Dark Sky comes with advanced notification options: Receive down-to-the-minute alerts before it starts raining at your exact location, get notified of government severe weather alerts (for such things as thunderstorms, flooding, hurricanes, etc.), or even create your own custom notifications covering the next 24 hours for things like temperature, wind, precipitation and more. Even if you haven’t opened the app in days, Dark Sky will tell you what you need to know, when you need to know it. TODAY WIDGET The Dark Sky Notification Center Widget tells you at a glance what’s going to happen in the next hour and the next week, so you don’t even have to unlock your phone to quickly check the weather before heading out. TIME MACHINE Explore weather in the past or future. Choose a date and see historical weather data or future predictions based off of seasonal averages. APPLE WATCH Dark Sky looks great on your wrist. Get notifications and check out the weather for the next week with the Dark Sky app built from scratch for Apple Watch.

The most perfect weather app ever created in the history of mankind.
  • Lightning and wind data missing...

This app rocks but... if only it had lightning and wind reporting... Can think of at least a dozen hobbies plus vocations that would benefit greatly from the inclusion of this data...
  • Great privacy policy - decent weather

The privacy policy is great with this app considering that all other weather apps are data miners selling your personal information. The app design is pretty good, but the radar is a bit confusing with the color gradient used. Some of the interesting weather information (like wind speed) is hidden in a sub menu which I would like to have exposed on the main page. Weather forecasts and timings seem accurate though. Pretty good little weather app!
  • Good not great.

It’s a good app but not great. This app has failed on multiple occasions on providing accurate weather updates. The map and schedule showed no rain. Not even a 1% chance within the next 24 hours. My wife calls me and says it was pouring rain (we have a Jeep that the top was off). This has happened more than 10 times. The map will show no rain, but when you drive by the areas it can be raining. You go to the free weather channel app and it will show what this app isn’t showing.
  • Lacks customization options

This app is fine for the most part. Rating is because it lacks customization options. On the hour by hour for each day, it’d be nice to change the order of the options at the bottom (temp, feels like, precip, etc).
  • Used to be a good app

This was a great app when I bought it a few years ago. The changes they made are not good and lately, the forecasts have been horribly wrong. Great job ruining a great app!
  • Very Accurate

Accurate down to the minute even predicting 10 or 15 minute breaks during the storm. Love the precipitation notifications warning when it’s going to start raining and when it stops. Would love to see a measure of actual precipitation along with predicted precipitation at the bottom of the 24 hour summary because sometimes both of them are different.
  • Thanks for a job well done!

I really appreciate the rain start/stop notifications I receive from this app, along with other weather event notifications and the ability to create custom notifications as well. Thanks
  • No wind measurement on the main screen

Personally, I don’t satisfied with the usability of the app. After reading a lots of positive reviews about this weather app, I have decided to purchase and give it a try. I liked 24 hours vertical line, daily review etc., but what makes me to give 3 stars is that there is no easy way to look into wind speed! Even at the top title side it doesn’t tell you current wind speed. So, instead of those fancy gifs with wind power signs I would prefer numbers. Please, take this into consideration for the next update. Thank you.
  • Watch complication brings it down

The application itself is fine, although I prefer one that stores multiple locations that I can swipe through. What disappoints me is the watch complication. Like so many others, it is very slow to update. At this point, it’s still displaying information from two nights ago (and I’ve moved to the other coast in that time), even though I have verified that background refresh is enabled and location services are set to always allow. If I tap to update, the screen will go blank for a long time while it gets the update. Apple’s own complications, however, have easily kept up with my location changes and updated throughout the day.
