If you subscribe in the app: Met Opera on Demand offers two auto-renewing subscription types available for purchase through your iTunes Account: Monthly (with a free 7-day trial for first time purchasers) and Annual. Payment will be charged (after any free trial period, if applicable) to your iTunes Account at confirmation of purchase, at the price listed under "Choose Your Offer" (currently $14.99 US Dollars for a Monthly subscription and $149.99 US Dollars for an Annual subscription.) Depending on your App Store country or region, prices might be listed and payments charged in your local currency, US Dollars, or Euros.     Every content owner wants to provide their own streaming service to cut out the middle man and collect all the profits, but delivering first-class software and infrastructure presents different challenges than content production. This app is not bad — they’ve fixed a number of issues I see in earlier reviews over the five years this app has been out. It would still be nice to use AirPlay on free previews (and return to them after leaving the app), and browse by artist. Also, like some other reviewers mention the sound quality could be better. I suspect it is being compressed too much, though the video quality is good.

    I use it while driving, at home on iPhone, laptop and Apple TV. I haven’t had any technical problems, as long as I have a decent signal strength. The annual rate is the best deal. The resume function is excellent and always picks up an audio or video file where I last stopped. Please put “Angels” on, as well as the latest Thais.

    Unfortunately the App really doesn't work well. At this moment I can't pause, stop, or exit the app and it's not my remote.

    When I type my email in to subscribe, it keeps telling me my email address is invalid when I know it's not. Is there any way to fix this?

    The terrible sound quality defeats the enterprise. Audible digital distortion interrupts the quiet moments and makes the loud ones unbearable. What a disappointment.
  • iTunes does not work

    Several problems: 1) a Friend gave us a year’s subscription; the Met’s website does not allow us to redeem the $149.99. 2) The ITunes App is downloaded but not functioning on my MacBoodAir with OS X El Capitan

    The connection invariably freezes two-thirds the way through any given opera. I have no idea whether it's the app or a problem with the Met's server; there is definitely nothing wrong with my own Internet connection.
