    I’m a college student looking to make money over the summer, thought care.com was a great idea. Don’t be fooled! They constantly pester you to upgrade to premium, will charge you money for a background check and driving record, and will charge even more money to respond to messages. I’m not sure where they got the idea that people are trying to spend money instead of making it. Complete waste of time!

    The fact that you have to upgrade to reply to a person or even see the messages and pay that amount of money is ridiculous, it never used to be like this!!!

    Things you can’t do in this app: —call phone numbers typed into chat messages —copy text from chat messages —reopen a job listing after culling first-round applicants —see your own job listings on your home feed —see accurate averages of applicants’ reviews
  • Awful messaging issues!!!

    I paid $40 for a month subscription and every time I try to message an applicant, it won’t send. It erases my messages and tells me the person is “inactive” despite that I can see their profile and application. The worst part: I can’t hit Help or anything in the app without it telling me my email isn’t set up. But my email address is there in settings. This is hindering my ability to get a care provider for my mother. Very frustrated and the cost is ridiculous for this kind of issues and lack of support!

    I do love this app mostly. The only flaw is that it is not well designed for the IPhone X. When I open a review of a caregiver, the “x” button to close the review is directly over the right upper notch of the iPhone X, where the signal, WiFi, and battery icons are. It means that I’m unable to press the “x” button to close the caregiver review, so I have to force close the care.com app each time and start over. Hopefully they fix this issue once they start refining the app for iPhone X (and the many new phones with the same notch that Apple is making next).

    Runs with a lag - messages don’t refresh instantly and runs with a lag. Hard to organize applications - it’s all message-based. Other than tagging candidates with Decline, Keep in the Running, or “Heart” there’s no real way to keep track of who you’ve talked, take notes on each candidate, or if that candidate had previously applied for another job posting. App crashes when I start deleting old messages. While not an app issue, I find that applicants RARELY read your post carefully before applying. I go through about 20 applications and exchange 1-2 messages with each candidate (that actually bothers to respond) to realize that the dates/times they are available DO NOT MATCH MY JOB DESCRIPTION.

    Buggy app won’t rotate to landscape mode. Nanny images don’t load consistently. App harvests and cloaks your phone number in the name of increased “security”. Creepy.

    I’m a babysitter and I’ve been trying to contact several families for a job but I found out that you have to pay to get in contact with them. Getting this app will cause you to lose more than you earn. I hate Care and if I don’t get any answers for my questions, I’ll be deleting the app soon.
  • Soooooo many issues

    I feel that for as much as we spend on a premium account, as well as all the dumb extras we pay for when posting a listing, this app would be significantly farther along than where it was when we started using it (one year ago). And not just the app, but also the website. The whole service is horrifically overpriced for the amount of senseless issues you have to battle whilst paying for it. Still all the dumb glitches, striving to be as un-user-friendly as possible, and incorporating useless “security” measures (not allowing for phone numbers to be shared for interviews, etc.). The “Carechat” is a time waster that attempts to solve the self-inflicted problem of not sharing numbers, by creating a whole new system that doesn’t work properly, which is novel way of killing two birds with one stone.
