Masterclass is a well designed application that allows users to easily search content from figures they like. The content provided is diverse from all walks of life whether entertainment, music, sports, politics, culinary, etc. The app does a great job in managing this content with downloaded classes available in it’s own section as well as a profile category which pertains to your account. The app also has preview videos for those would like to get a taste of content. Overall the app does a great job in putting a human face on education and making it more accessible.
  • Excellent App - AirPlay/Chromecast Support Improvements

    By Toaha.Hussain
I’m loving the content with the actual classes however I’ve noticed that when utilizing Airplay/Chromecast functionality to stream videos to my TV that videos time out and stop suddenly. For further detail, I’m using the iPad app which doesn’t appear to have the toggle for ‘Continue Playback in Background’. Additionally, upon streaming videos to a TV, it doesn’t appear that the app allows me to navigate to other areas of the app (such as viewing the classroom materials to take notes while the video is running on the TV). Current workflow essentially requires me to restart videos 2-3x per lesson which is somewhat frustrating.
  • Needs Art

    By Sans The Skeley
I love this app due to its vast variety of subjects that you can learn from the best, but I would highly suggest adding drawing and art into the mix. I believe this app would really be if it from that, Thank you
  • Amazed at the level of teachers

    By Eschaos
WOW I’m impressed. Excellent work MasterClass — getting the best teachers for each category. I wake up each day excited to hear the next lesson of each clip. I’m not a Netflix binge watcher, I always feel guilty. But I’m a self help junkie. Finally, a way to watch ANYTHING that catches my interest. The app format combined with some Bluetooth headphones enables me to watch these videos anywhere, anytime. I’m going through the Patterson MasterClass now and I love the workbook, resources, and clarity of editing in each lesson — no FLUFF. Keep it up. App is phenomenal. No crashes. Smooth. Fast loading. Crisp Hd video. LOVE it.
  • Useful supplemental leading / tech problems

    By MilesPicasso
The writing and film classes combine to form a treasure trove of useful tools and ideas. But this format is not, and could never be, a substitute for interactive learning which includes critical feedback on writing and production assignments from qualified professionals with industry experience. To pretend otherwise is folly. These courses should be seen as a supplement, not as a core curriculum, for serious people who expect to have success as screenwriters, novelists, filmmakers, etc. My single biggest practical criticism is that the mobile app is buggy, unpredictable, and not nearly as functional as the website (one star off for that). The playlists function, for example, is not available on the mobile app for iPhones. The website is also prone to hanging up or canceling streaming with slower Wi-Fi speed’s. The tech team badly needs to work on both. The worst thing I can say about is that their management deleted all content for the acting classes taught by Dustin Hoffman and Kevin Spacey within minutes of both of them getting negative publicity during their respective public trials by Internet (only one star off for this, although more than that would be justified). The decision in the case of Dustin Hoffman is especially ludicrous. Sheer cowardice, stupidity, and a tragic waste of the efforts of dozens of committed individuals to put together the many things these two great actors have to teach. If personal and moral probity were the consistent standard by which to judge instructors, and then decide whether or not to permanently delete their content, then the website offerings would almost certainly shrink to a fraction of their current number. Just imagine if Pablo Picasso, Miles Davis or John Huston were born 50 years later than they were. “Delete! Delete! Delete! Nothing to see here!”
  • Best Investment Ever!

My annual subscription in Masterclass provides so much enjoyment that when the subscription comes up - reinvestment is not an option. The opportunity to have internationally celebrated icons personally mentor me in their art that they have given their lives to create.
