The Nintendo Switch Online app enhances your online gameplay experience on your Nintendo Switch™ console. You can use voice chat while playing compatible games—and check game-specific services even when you're not playing with your Nintendo Switch. ◆ Use voice chat during online play Now, even more software supports voice chat! You can enjoy voice chat in different ways depending on the type of game you're playing. Chat with everyone in your room or split voice chat into teams and have it out head-to-head! In games that support the Online Lounge feature, you can invite friends to play with you via social media such as Facebook and Twitter. Of course, you can easily invite your Nintendo Switch friends too! Note: To use these services, a Nintendo Switch game compatible with this app is required. You can check the current list of voice-chat-compatible software within the app. (Even more software will be added in the future!) ◆ Access game-specific services You can use these services to check your rankings, match records, and other vital information related to specific games! You will also have access to a variety of features that will help take your online-gameplay experience to the next level. Attention: ● A Nintendo Switch console, a Nintendo Account, and compatible software are required to use these features. ● A Nintendo Switch Online subscription is required in order to use online-play services on Nintendo Switch (some software excluded). ● You must be at least 13 years or older to use this app. ● In addition to Nintendo Switch friends, this app can also connect you to your social-media contacts. ● A persistent Internet connection is required to use this app. Cellular data may be used. ● May contain advertisements and product placement.

What the heck is this? All these features should've been implimented into the console. I don't like the direction Nintendo has been going in. They have been caring about money more than the user.

  • $20 for NES games ok, service is garbage

This is such a joke, I love my Switch but Nintendo needs to get a clue when it comes to online. My friend and I can’t even use this app to chat during Diablo III so I guess I’ll stick to discord...
  • A Disappointment

My biggest Pet Peeve for the app is the exclusivity of voice chat to the application. I’m aware that with how the console is set up there isn’t a feasible and comfortable way to set up wired headsets, but using my phone to talk to my friends makes no sense when I could use any number of other voice chatting apps(most notably Discord) to accomplish the same task with less hassle. I don’t have any suggestions, but I am quite dissatisfied with the state of Nintendo Online at the moment.

The Switch online program is complete garbage, but this is actually better than the service. While this is prepackaged with Garbage: The Service, this is not entirely garbage. Here are a few things you can fix Nintendo: 1: Private and Public Chatrooms. This is a mix of Amino and the already provided service; or simply, Freakin’ texting. 2: Redeemable Rewards: Like say new gear for Splatoon 2, Special Pokémon, or V-BUCKS. Even though I don’t play Fortnite anymore, that would be cool. Or it could just be discounts. 3: Filming with your phone instead of the button. This would be infinite, like a phone. It also saves directly to the iPhone or other device. This would be a reward for pairing your YouTube account with your switch account. This will make making videos way easier. 4: Cutting voice chat on the phone. The only reason I’m complaining is that 1: I am not paying another company for an extension, and 2: freakin’ public voice chat! How hard is that!!! 5:Support and Stats for all games. This is minor but still good. Nintendo, I hope you can implement at least one of those changes I wanted. It would be good for everyone if you did the voice chat idea. Good luck on trying one or more of mine or the community’s ideas.

Now I love Nintendo as much as the next guy and didn’t mind some of the ideas they had for this app like specific services for games such as the Splatnet for Splatoon 2,I didn’t even mind voicechat that much even though granted it could’ve been handled much better. What I feel mostly drags this app down however is how limited it’s features are. What I mentioned with voicechat and Splatnet, that’s about it,I know Nintendo isn’t trying to be AS cometetive with Xbox and PlayStation but it just bugs me how their apps have so much more features such as go to the online stores and buy games, redeem codes, message friends, and view upcoming news for upcoming games.A good counterpoint to this could be that the Switch is technically a portable system, and while that is true I know some people use it more as a home console more than a portable console(like myself.Features like being able to check things like upcoming games or purchasing a game or whatever when you are nowhere near your console or even sending your friends simple messages would make Nintendo Switch Online feel just a little less barren and more worth it to take up space on my phone.
  • Should call this Nintendo Crash App

I downloaded this and it only worked once when I set it up and since then (over a period of a couple of months) it’s never opened back up. I even deleted it and re-added it. Still doesn’t work. Missing out on the supposed “bonuses” for my games... Ready to just pull the plug on this one.
