2019/1/17 USA EST Been a while since my last review. So far, since returning 2018/12/14, it has been working most of the time on iPhone & iPad (both ver and IOS 12.1.1). A 2nd iPad is on ver and IOS 9.3.5. It works too on Windows 32-bit desktop (ver & 64-bit laptop (ver both running Windows 7 Professional SP1. Bravo Norton, you get another star. But there are still quirks: #1 IOS devices on ver and IOS 12.1.1 - the “Ad Trackers” page no longer shows Block History for This Week, Last 30 Days and All Time. This info shows on the Windows processes and on the iPad running ver and IOS 9.3.5. Since there is no rollback procedure available I worry that ver 3.0.3, now at the Apps Store, might bring back the nightmares. Holding off updating IOS devices. #2 the Windows processes and/or services have a hard time reconnecting to a functioning VPN server once you disconnect from Wi-Fi then attempt to reconnect. Sometimes it succeeds, sometimes not. I’ve had to disable VPN when it cannot reconnect. Crap shoot. #3 the Windows processes do not give you the option to download and install an updated version - it goes right ahead and does it then holds your online session hostage until you decide to reboot. NOT NICE and NOT FRIENDLY! Paying CUSTOMERS want CHOICE of when to download and install an update! I have serious doubts whether things will be this smooth when traveling internationally. There are many carriers in many countries whose internet policies/protocols for IOS devices & PCs might not be VPN friendly. 2018/11/30 CET For those with active subscriptions that include Secure VPN, I recommend logging into My Norton, tap on Support then leave Feedback. I seriously doubt Norton Support technicians read these reviews and therefore cannot know the unhappiness of their pi$$ed off paying customers. For other unhappy users, Norton Q&A’s do not do “didley with a side of squat” for our issues. I suggest finding some way to be able to leave your fed-up feedback on the Norton website. Good luck to us all who are without internet protection. In particular travelers who have no choice but to use unsecured public wifi network providers. And still Norton rakes in the subscription bucks. 2018/11/21 CET For some strange reason VPN is working today almost as if a string of servers were rebooted facilitating VPN connections. Bravo Norton! you listened to pi$$ed off paying customers. Not changing the star rating until VPN service is consistent. 2018/11/16 CET This forking thing turned into a piece of shi[r]t rather quickly. Problems started with ver 2.5.4 a few weeks ago. Now at ver 3.0.1 and it takes a full charge on the phone before this app finds a VPN server to talk to. Now at 77% charge and still no connection. You can’t have a wireless connection unless it finds a VPN server to talk to, you can’t change regions unless you already have an existing VPN connection. If you already have a VPN connection keep it because changing regions will disable VPN & wifi functionality as it attempts to find a VPN server. Burn this forking thing and give us back ver 1.something! 2017/09/08 approximately Although haven't yet had the opportunity to use on a public hotspot, I'm currently using it on my home wireless network. Not many steps to remember to establish connection: connect to wifi and surf with no perceptible app-induced slowness. I like it now, hope future updates do not spoil that.

Finally a vpn that works. Thanks Symantec
  • App won’t configure connection

    By Isaiah morris
App won’t configure connection after using Touch ID. I am connected to a connection and allowing the app to connect to it. App just won’t configure it. Norton has been very inconsistent in the updates, trying to fix issues lately. Not cool after paying a subscription.
  • Faster than Express VPN

    By Simpleman1000
I bought express VPN and have been using it happily with no noticeable loss of browsing speed. I just started the trial of Norton Wi-Fi privacy. I tested upload and download speeds using Net Analyzer app over Verizon LTE cellular data without VPN and with each VPN. I also tested over hotel Wi-Fi without VPN and with each VPN. Norton VPN upload and download speeds were comparable to no VPN for both cellular data and Wi-Fi. Express VPN upload and download speeds were 10 times slower than Norton over cellular data. Over hotel Wi-Fi with Express VPN, the download speed was comparable to Norton but upload speed was again 10 times slower. Conclusion: Norton Wi-Fi VPN is highly competitive in speed, NOT slow, and it is a trusted name in security. I have been using it constantly on for days with no problems at all. Now I have been using it a year constantly on iPhone and Windows 10. Works great almost all the time. Occasionally it won’t connect, but updating the app solves that. Only one problem: I can’t connect to my (Windows 10) home network printer unless I turn it off. Not sure if that happens with any VPN. Also, rarely it goes off and I find out too late that it did. So I learned to check the VPN symbol. I wish they had a lock to stop internet traffic as long as the app is open and unless the VPN connects, like SurfEasy vpn does. Overall I feel very confident in the security, just need to be careful to ensure it’s connected. Another year or more has gone by, and I have been using Norton Secure VPN most of the time on my iPhone, IPad, and Windows 10 systems. This week, I had it on all week on my iPad. This morning after checking my email and surfing with Safari, I noticed the VPN symbol was off. I checked settings and saw that “connect on demand” was set to ON. I checked the version in the App Store and saw that I am using the most current version. I checked my IP address and confirmed that I had been browsing online without VPN protection. This has been happening on iOS since I first started using the VPN. I trust Symantec/Norton as the best name in security, but without a network lock feature you need to be vigilant to confirm that it is actually engaged. Most important before walking into a public network that you have joined before. On Windows, it stays on reliably once turned on but it won’t auto-start when I restart the computer even thoughI have the current version and have it set to run on startup.

  • Help my I phone

    By balconybuphs
My phone is being held hostage by Norton VPN. There are some site that won’t work when it’s on and I know that. Problem is I can’t turn it off. It doesn’t respond to turn of vpn on its screen...go to settings...toggle turn off comes back on !! It has a mind of it’s own. Only way to get out is to delete the app! Then just try and pull it back from the cloud and reinstall it...dare you... 15 minutes later and 30% power might be there. No choice but to give it a 2 because I know it works but it isn’t behaving properly.

  • Sometimes

    By 2Venus
It works when it wants to; Sometimes I cannot turn it on; it has been frustrating. When it wants to work; then it’s fine, I expect Norton to be the best but I am still searching More recently, it has significantly improved so I have changed my rating to a 4 instead of a 3
  • After recent update

    By Dean Troi
With the most recent update from a few days ago, this app is working again. The only issue now is that the insecure network warning still jumps up even though I do have the vpn protection engaged. No big deal, just annoying sometimes.
  • Beware misleading

This app is horrible. First, it’s says free for the the initial 30 days, but the app is not usable. You can’t navigate in it or not. In order to deactivate auto renew you are suppose to go to settings; but you don’t have access to that option. BEWARE AND STEER CLEAR. USE ANOTHER SERVICE!!!!!!!!!
