Read on to learn about the great capabilities of iAnnotate: IPHONE: Now you can use iAnnotate on your phone, with all of the great features you’ve come to expect on your iPad. IPAD PRO: iAnnotate works great with the iPad Pro. Automatically annotate when you use the Apple Pencil and easily pan, zoom, scroll with your fingers — no tool switching required. Get more work done with iOS multitasking and smart keyboard shortcuts. ANNOTATE: Choose from the pen, highlighter, typewriter, stamp, straight-line, note, underline, strikeout, photo, voice recording, arrow, rectangle, circle, and date stamp tools. CUSTOMIZE: Drag and drop tools to your custom toolbars. Swipe between toolbars, or open the Toolbox to access all your tools. ACCESS: Connect with Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive (including OneDrive for Business) or open PDFs directly from email and other apps. SEARCH: Search documents in your local library and throughout your cloud storage. SHARE: iAnnotate saves your markups directly to the PDF, so they can be viewed and edited in external PDF readers. FLATTEN: Compress your annotations onto the document to prevent modification. This is useful for preserving signatures or for preventing recipients from deleting or changing your annotations. WEB MARKUP: Open a web capture tab and find the site you want to mark up. iAnnotate will convert it to a PDF for annotation. NAVIGATE: Explore your documents by thumbnails, bookmarks, annotations, or search results. UNLIMITED TABS: Open multiple documents in tabs, and easily navigate between them, on both tablet and phone. TWO DOCUMENTS: Work on two documents side-by-side, for even greater productivity. MANAGE: Arrange documents by folders and sort contents by date added, date last opened, or alphabetical order. CREATE: Create brand new PDFs with blank, lined, or graph-paper pages. MODIFY: Add, delete, rotate, and rearrange pages in your documents. SUMMARIZE: Forward a summary of your annotations as an email or a new PDF. SECURE: Full support for the iOS Data Protection and Keychain functions. • New version is buggy

I used to love iAnnotate. New version is a big step backwards. Documents are blurry don’t load, and I can’t select specific edits to delete any more. I don’t see any improvement, just things that used to work don’t any more. If you have an older version DONT UPGRADE. NB I would have given the old version four or five stars.
  • Lost everything - where is this autobackup they claim?

Where is this auto-backup feature? We had dozens of files. One day they are all gone. No clear clues as to where. No one else uses our device and the device didn’t reset.
  • I love this!

I love to edit and with the Apple Pencil, it makes editing so much easier. Even with pdf’s of scripts. Well worth the money!
  • Problematic and buggy

I am a big fan of iAnnotate and have used previous version for years. It is always reliable. I just updated to the latest version. I then spent many hours commenting on a paper over a few week period. This morning I started up the app to forward it to my collaborator, and the paper was gone. The lesson I learned is that in the current version, make sure each file is saved on the local disk. If you do that, the auto-save will protect you. If not, you may find the tab of the paper you have been marking up gone after your iPAD goes to sleep, with out a copy on the disk. In every other respect, iAnnotate4 is an improvement and my go to app for commenting on manuscripts.
  • Great for Students

I love this app. I use it every day in class to take notes on the power points and outlines that my professors post ahead of time. I love that I can make notes, add text, photos, or write and I know that there is much more this app can do. Sometimes I have a little trouble saving the annotated documents back to my google drive, but I have not lost any documents and I’ve always figured out how to get them to save eventually. My friends often ask me to share my notes because I can add “sticky notes” directly to the slides, next to the parts that relate to my notes and their computers cannot do that.
  • WARNING: Do not upgrade to v4!!!

WebDAV support has been removed. REVIEWER'S RESPONSE TO DEVELOPER: How do I use WebDAV? You really aren't asking me to explain to your support staff how an incredibly popular and supported Internet protocol which was developed in 1996 and supported in your last 3 major releases is being used, are you? That's just silly and a waste of your customer and staff's time.
  • Highly responsive customer service

I have used this as well as previous versions of iAnnotate and have reached out to customer service several times. I have always received prompt and helpful responses. I had an excellent response just today, about a problem that affected my daily use of iAnnotate for scholarly writing. The solution was very easy, but I could not see what was going wrong and could not find a way to document it from my iPad. Customer service figured it out for me, and I fixed the problem in about 3 minutes. Wonderful!
  • Ruined app, still waiting on promised fix

Like the commenter above, I have used iAnnotate for many years. It is a critical tool for my everyday work. But unless the promised fix to automatically save files locally on the device comes soon, I will be switching to an app that includes that feature. The responder from Branchfire commented on the previous commenter’s post on November 20th. It is December 19th and still no fix in an update. When is the fix coming? I cannot deal with my documents disappearing, particularly when I’m not finished editing them or when I need to go back to them. There was NO ADVANCE NOTICE via email or a notification on the app. Documents just suddenly started disappearing and cannot be found. I have lost HOURS of editing work. This must be fixed. If it isn’t, I will not only not use this app anymore but will never use another Branchfire product. It is terribly inconsiderate to make a major change in your product with no warning. Very poor decision that should be changed immediately.
  • Okay APP

Has been using it for quite a while, but never grown to love it. There are many minor issues that make the experience unsatisfactory. Flipping pages is not quite responsive.
  • Used to be a great App

I have used iAnnotate for years. I gave them a second star because of a previously great product, but this upgrade is a disaster, at least for me, with little to no support. After I upgraded to iAnnotate v4 I lost all access to Dropbox, iCloud and have no local files. There is no way to troubleshoot my problem and while others have the same issue, there is not a fix readily apparent. If you have an older version of iAnnotate, KEEP IT AND DON’T UPGRADE! For a product as refined as this, a user expects a smooth upgrade process. I don’t know to go back to v3, so now I have to look for alternatives like Notability.
