Description

Why spend hundreds of dollars on an extra device while your phone can do the same and more? Find, Create, Import and Navigate great Roads and track your Touring Adventures. Although Scenic is designed for the motorcycle it's used by many old-timer and convertible drivers as well. It's basically for anyone with a motorised vehicle who enjoys a day (or longer) of touring. ROUTE PLANNING Scenic offers many many options to plan your tours: (1) Select a location and be navigate there along curvy roads. (2) Create a route yourself by dropping up to 200 via points with fast, short or curvy roads to get from one point to the next. (3) Import routes through many ways and many sources. For example: Scenic integrates with the Furkot, RouteYou and Kurviger.de online routeplanners and the Scenic WebApp makes it easy to import GPS files (GPX, KML, KMZ, GDB, ITN) and Google (My) Maps URLs. Simply drag and drop GPS files and copy/paste Google Maps URL's in the WebApp and the route will be waiting for you in Scenic on your phone. (4) As the only app of it's kind Scenic can make nearly every imported route navigable, even if it has thousands of points. (5) If you don't feel like creating or importing your own routes, you can choose from the many thousands of routes shared, rated and reviewed by fellow Scenic users. NAVIGATION Of course Scenic wouldn't be a good alternative to Motorcycle GPS units if it didn't offer navigation. The navigation screen has been especially designed for use on the motorcycle, with large fonts, a clear route line and a screen layout that enables you to see next turns in a quick glance. And of course Scenic also gives voice instructions (in 21 languages). Next to that Scenic has special features to guide you to the start point of a route and skip via points if you take a (deliberate or accidental) detour. TRACKING Scenic's tracking feature allows you to save your touring adventures for ever. With every ride you take, wether you're navigating a route or not, your ride is tracked. Scenic records your speed, the roads you took and the pictures taken along the way. Every trip you ever took can be shared on social media, exported to GPX files and even turned into a navigable route so you can ride it again. * Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. * Scenic has an optional Premium Subscription that gives you access to Premium Features (Voice Guidance, Route Import & Route & Trip export). The subscription automatically renews every year. The first payment will be charged to your iTunes Account at confirmation of the purchase. It automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged again within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period. Subscriptions may be managed by you and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to your Account Settings in the iTunes Store, also reachable through 'Manage Subscriptions' from the Scenic Settings menu.Current price for premium subscription is $10.99 USD per year, and may vary from country to country. I have been looking for an app like this for a long time and this is app is awesome. I can create a custom route in Google maps and in less than a minute the exact route is on my phone. Thank you Guido for making it simple.
  • Super slow but has routes

I would use this app more to find cool riding routes if it didn’t take an unreasonable about of time to load after every button I press! And then if you wait 3 minutes for the routes to load on the map, if you save one and want to go back to look at more— it resets! This is the slowest functioning app I have used in the past few years.
  • Possible issue

I have been using this app for over a year now. I like the routing options, the turn by turn navigation and the ease of use. The 2 issues I would like fixed are as follows: 1. - the app likes to route you onto dirt roads. I ride a sport bike and they don’t exactly mix well. 2. - have an option on the map to look at satellite imagery of your route. This will allow you to verify no issues on your route like dirt roads or bad roads. Thanks for reading and I hope one day these are added features.
  • Killer GPS app.

I’ve been using Scenic since it first came out two years ago. Within a week it was pressed into service for a seven day ride through South Western Colorado and back. In those early days there were some bugs, and it crashed a few times, but was easy to recover and resume the routing. The author had been quick to address those issues and forged it into a solid GPS alternative to a dedicated device. I will be doing a 50cc to make it to the east coast quickly this coming weekend, then will enjoy a two week vacation riding and camping my way back home to the San Jose Bay Area. Senic is my chosen GPS app for the ride. Between that and SW Connect to place my breadcrumbs into a SpotWalla page, that pretty well rounds out my mapping resources. I probably will be consulting Furkot on the Web for any points of interest along the way. Guido, Thank you for creating and maintaining a killer app for the iPhone. I’ll be looking forward to the next major update. Brodie

I tried using it recently on 1500 mile trip. I don’t feel it is as intuitive as google maps or Waze. Scenic excels at suggesting off the beaten path roads but frequently rerouted me in a circle or suggested I turn off my route only to turn around and come back to original route?? The magnification feature while traveling I feel is too zoomed in not giving you enough visual of what’s coming, several times I had to manually zoom out to see further ahead. I had the option selected for speed/zoom FYI. Waze has an option to avoid non-paved or dirt roads...YOU NEED TO DO THIS AS WELL!! While on this trip trying to use your app, very suddenly the road went from asphalt to sand/gravel with no warning. That’s obviously not the fault of the app but I’m not interested in riding dirt roads with this bike and these options need to be included if your going to charge the user three different price points to use your app. I made the $10.49/year upgrade with (verified purchase) to the app for trial purposes and every time I wanted voice instructions the app said it didn’t recognize my purchase and needed to upgrade so...never got to use voice directions. I will continue to try and improve my experience with your app, I really like the idea and it’s much better getting you off the beaten path than google or Waze for sure.

I’ve been enjoying Scenic for a few weeks now, taking and creating many short and long trips to places I’ve never been. For the most part it has worked very well. I recommend it highly for finding curvy roads. There are a couple things I’d suggest for improvements: 1) keep current on bridge closures and other detours and offer a way to “re-route” quickly. Being asked to make a u-turn over and over is frustrating when you definitely need a different route, you should be able to easily say “find another way!” 2) the pause and back arrows are jammed up against the edge of the screen making them harder to tap with gloves on. 3) so far it’s very rare if the speed limit is shown on the screen, even though that option has been selected 4) it would be nice to easily be able to trim a route of extraneous turns. Sometimes the person who recorded the public route accidentally made a wrong turn and just needs to get back on track. Since that’s recorded, like lemmings we all also miss the turn and go around in a circle. I’m recommending Scenic to all my friends friends on bikes!

Goodbye Zumo. This great app does everything Zumo does for a whole lot less money, and way easier to setup and import routes. The app author is a rider and responds quickly to any comments, or questions.
  • Very sophisticated app

This is a well crafted and pretty intuitive app that puts big commercial programs like Garmin to shame in many respects.
