Description

The New Yorker Today app is the best way to stay on top of news and culture every day, and the magazine each week. Features: • Get a daily blend of in-depth reporting, political commentary, cultural criticism, and humor from the website. • Read each week’s magazine and browse past issues. • Receive alerts on breaking-news coverage by your favorite New Yorker writers and notifications about major pieces in the magazine. • Flip through a nearly endless supply of New Yorker cartoons using the Cartoon Randomizer tab • Access The New Yorker Sticker Pack: download the app, add the extension to iMessage, and liven up your texts with Christoph Niemann’s signature drawings and animations of city life • Read articles offline and bookmark long reads to finish later The app is free to download. Subscribers receive unlimited access. Non-subscribers may access a limited number of articles each month. Most current New Yorker subscribers have unlimited access to the app as part of their existing subscription. Subscribers with a print-only subscription may not have unlimited access. Users who have trouble accessing unlimited stories, or who wish to upgrade their access level may call Customer Service at 1-800-967-2082. All users have unlimited access to the Cartoon Randomizer, which does not count toward the article limit for non-subscribers. All users have unlimited access to the Sticker Pack, which is free to download and requires iOS 10 or above. A subscription costs $8.99 a month or $89.99 annually, and includes a 30-day free trial, after which it will automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period and will state the cost of renewal. Subscriptions may be managed by the user and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to the user’s account settings after purchase. Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when the user purchases a subscription to that publication, where applicable. Payment will be charged to iTunes Account at confirmation of purchase. The New Yorker Today app requires iOS 9 or above. I LOVE the NYer and we have a 40 year relationship...my only one longer is with the NYT!! BUT I agree with previous reviews that connecting regularly and predictably with the daily or digital editions of the New Yorker is made EXCEPTIONALLY DIFFICULT! WHY WHY WHY can’t one of the premiere publications in the world owned by one of the most powerful media conglomerates GET IT TOGETHER? Why can’t we have seamless access? Are you trying to drive customers away? Have YOU ever tried to enter the “correct” nine or 12 digits from a label and been constantly rebuffed? Well, we all have!! PLEASE FIX THE CONNECTIVITY ISSUES!! Kevin Farrell Los Angeles

Great magazine, lousy app which denies paid-upp customers access.

I love New Yorker, been reading all my life. This app couldn’t be worse
  • Not an app

It just goes to the website. Then, despite having a subscription, I can’t stay logged in. And there isn’t a login link handy—only “subscribe.” A lot of hassle to use the so-called app.

I have been reading The New Yorker for years. When my eyesight dwindled and the small font of the magazine became too difficult to read, I was so happy that I was still able to begin my day with my copy daily, in larger font, and read with my morning Joe.

I was an idiot. I took my New Yorker subscription app out of Newsstand and made it a separate thing. Now I can’t get the current issue *at all.* I have a paid subscription. It ain’t cheap. Now I can’t even get the digital version of the subscription that I pay for. If there were a discounted price for print only, that would be at least acceptable. Seriously, the main reason I got an iPad was to read the New Yorker in digital form. Now I’m tempted to just give it up entirely. Yeah, I get New York snobbery. I’m a native New Yorker myself. But treating loyal subscribers like this is just petty and mean.
  • Great app, needs a few tweaks

I love reading in the New Yorker Today app, but the bookmarks feature needs some improvements. Namely, bookmarks should sync across devices, and they should lift the cap on the number of bookmarks you can have. Otherwise, this is a beautiful, well designed app
  • Love the New Yorker, the app has problems

Like others have noted, the app boots me off every month and tells me I’m no longer subscribed to them. When I log in online, it shows that I am still subscribed. When I try to link my subscription, it claims it’s already tied to another email address. Basically for a few days every month you can’t read any articles because of the app’s problems. I love the New Yorker, but this is extremely frustrating. The app interface is pretty and not buggy, but some features of the app don’t work (like saving your place when reading an article). This app needs some work for sure!
