  • Nags for upgrade although it’s a paid app

    By E.Scribo
Apparently I merely paid $20 to download this thing; it won’t be useful without a paid upgrade. Interface doesn’t pop a definition up on lookup. Annoying ads at the bottom of the screen—-in a dictionary app! Makes the paperback look really good, the ads are hugely distracting when studying. Doesn’t work offline; the $20 was for... nothing. Not recommended; seems like a scam.

Relearning my French. Easy to use for my needs. I’d give it 4.5 stars. Rarely rate anything Five stars.
  • Great App

    By Keaton Butler
I love how this dictionary gives different example sentences of how to correctly use the word as well as idiom phrases. It is a true wealth of knowledge. In app purchase includes pronunciation for each word which seems reasonable to me. Fabulous app. Thank you!!
  • Mediocre

    By Sneferu
Content is pretty good, but it’s very frustrating to use. Every time you open the application it defaults to English-French. I don’t see a way to set the default to French-English which I mostly use. Also, after looking up a word you have to delete the previous word to enter a new search term.
  • Love it very useful

I love my dictionary it is very useful and helps me a lot during my studies
  • I absolutely love it!

    By Dmg55
I've been learning French for about a year now, and recently decided I needed to start practicing the four main abilities (e.g., writing, speaking, etc) more systematically in order to approve. Because I have and absolutely love the Italian version (Paravia) of this dictionary, I specifically looked to see if Oxford had a French version, and then immediately bought it. There are several reasons why I love this dictionary. Specifically, it has a large database of words, provides accurate and detailed translations, includes related french words in the definitions, and provides context words to help you distinguish the situations to use the words. The paid version also can be used online, which I appreciate. In addition, and particularly useful, a large portion of words also include idioms/sayings, which I've found are particularly difficult to understand when learning a new language. The Oxford dictionaries are helping me learn and refine two languages, and are one of my most used and go-to resources. Therefore, I highly recommend this app!

    Very thorough !
  • Best French English dictionary I have found

    By Frankie1054
The examples given are so delightful and plenteous I amuse myself just reading, and trying to remember them. My favorite translation dictionary. When I reported a problem, I got instant, courteous and knowledgeable responses from support staff. BTW: it does show you all verb conjugations: when you look up a French verb you will see the phonetic spelling, then an "icon" such as [verb list 99] and you press that to see the conjugation. You have to know basic conjugation to understand the verb lists, however, but you can look that up too in the dictionary. BBTW: I use this dictionary a lot. I like it. However, the mild but too-constant sexual stereotypes in the examples are beginning to wear on my nerves just a tad. I wish the he’s and she’s would be more equal regarding gender stereotypes and perceptions. When I copy examples onto flash cards for memorization, I find myself changing he’s to she’s or vice versa.

    Worth it!
  • They cheat

    By Y592w
Don’t buy it. They are cheating. Other dictionaries are not like this. I purchased this app. When I tried to install it on another iPhone (pronunciation), it asked me to pay again.
