  • Functionality too limited for free version

Pay $30 a year for something that could be done using the Notes App is kind of silly.
  • New update very glitch nd crashes

    By kevinlugardo
I have been using Day One since the “Classic Times” back when I started freshman year of high school (2013). I’ve loved everything about this app from the fomat and layout to the options it has. However, I recently updated to the 2.9.1 version but am encoutnering several bugs and giltches. I am willing to give it the 5 star it deserves if it please stops crashing and glitching on me. I try to rearange the photos on an entry but they someties duplicate and then the app crashes. Still love this app and hope to change back to five star review
  • Perfect

The app has lots of features that spur me on in journaling. It is simple enough that I actually use it. Not crazy about the yearly fee. I'd rather buy the program and be done with it.
  • Good but needs work

Can't easily create links, and there's a weird bug where it gets stuck in italics mode. I shut it down and restart it and it goes away. But it's a good compliment to the iPhone app, glad they have it. It's great if you prefer elaborating on your entries using a real keyboard. I often go back and touch up entries that I started on my iPhone.
  • I've been loving this app since I found it on iOS

My only gripe is that recent changes to the editor make it so that copied text loses its gorgeous formatting when pasting in another app. It would be 5-star otherwise.
  • Great APP

    By M_thompson1@
This is one great APP! Clean, straight forward and easy to use. Also, it has many nice features, some I haven't tried yet. I accidently sent an email stating that I ahad a problem (did not have a problem). However, I got an almost immediate response! This APP is gareat for personal use and has great potential for documenting business notes. The search feature is gareat.
  • New App Is Just Okay

    By Alphabiosx
I used Day One Classic for years and eventually had to switch to the new app when they discontinued support/dev of it. This new one is an okay replacement and I've gotten used to it. But after a year of using it, certain kinks/bugs still exist. The clicking of the dual-pane button is schizophrenic. And as of the last month or so, clicking on old journal entries sometimes doesn't open/populate correctly on the right side. I really miss the simplicity and usability of the old app.
  • Editor is still unusable

    By WillisWasabi
I’ve given up trying to write in Day One. Markdown let me fix things easily. This hybrid weird thing where the Markdown disappears is impossible to edit with. I’m writing in another app and importing from the command-line. Waiting to see what 3.0 looks like. However, if the editor is anything like it has been since 2.9, I’ll just go back to plain text files where I was 6 years ago before starting with Day One. This is terrible for long-time, technically-minded users. Don’t bother asking me to contact support. You know what we want. If not: we want *real* Markdown back. If you don’t want to support us weirdos, just tell us so we can break up and move on with our lives. --Updated after feedback about the editor-- Fair enough. My specific concern with the editor is that it's no longer Markdown. You are going after the larger market. Thanks for being honest. Day One simply no longer works for me. Markdown is what I need, a set of folders will work fine. All the little bits like weather, location, etc were nice, but not what I *need*. I may try to keep personal journals in here, but it's not up to what I need for my work journal any longer.
  • Planned obsolescence

    By Jax-N3
Running El Capitan and iOS 12, paid for premium, can’t edit entries on a mac because I’m running an older OS? I get that technology moves fast. I get that new features are added, and employees need to be paid. I don’t need the fluff, the make-up if you will, just basic functions, sync and editing. And you cut editing? You removed other sync services for a reason (“security"), yet you had data leeks, entries showing up in other peoples journals, and sync outage announcements on twitter are a regular occurrence at this point. Is this premium? Editing a document depends on an OS? A line of text now requires the latest patch/OS version?
  • An amazing, powerful tool for understanding your life

    By ShazarK
I have been using Day One for several years now, and have both the Mac and iOS versions of the program. The short answer - get it, and use it. It's become a daily tool for me to collect and document my thoughts, through words, images and media. It's also a tool for restrospection, and I love the "On this day" feature! I get to share memories with the people I created them with, and it sparks such great conversations about how much we've changed from then to now. I spent the past several months converting ALL my online writings (from various sites) into the Day One app. It's amazing to have all of that in one place, and be able to organize it so effectively. Thank you so much, Day One, for this app, how much it has helped to cultivate and curate my life.
