I have tried numerous other journaling apps and I get so busy trying to use all the features that I end up not journaling! DayOne is simple to use and the layout is very sleek and makes it easy to, well, journal!

I have been journaling for years and this by far is the best! Easy to use with amazing tools and functions. The designer has an eye for detail and function. I have tried half a dozen other programs and this is by the the best! There is nothing better!

  • Grandfathered Sync needed!

I bought the iOS app when there was no need for premium to use it and it works between all my iOS devices perfectly. I bought the mac version after their cutoff for the change but I think syncing should still apply to the mobile versions for continuity's sake. If I have to pay for only one device type sync but they are the same thing what is the point of grandfathering at all!!! Side Note: I would definitely pay for premium if there wasn't such a glaring error in the thought process here. Day One is great!

I've used Day One for a few years and continue to find it easy to use and excellent in features. I plan to upgrade to access dictation.
  • New editor kind of annoying

Perhaps I'm just a geek who loves markdown... or control. I've used Day One for years, and markdown and speed of it were my favorite things. The new live editor is kind of buggy, like sometimes text gets bold, and then you have to close the entire program just not to write in bold. I just wish there was a view where I could edit without the annoyances of auto-format. I'm so used to adding in headers with hashes, but if you don't get it right then you have to unformat it and start over. For me, this is super annoying. I'm sure 80% of people don't care, but it just bugs me.

Efficient. Elegant. Everywhere. I wanted a journal I could capture my thoughts in at any time and access those thoughts again at any time. This app does it all perfectly.
  • Too much restricted to Premium.

Mainly, Journal sync between devices up to a certain storage amount (even 3 GB would be acceptable) should be offered for free. Not allowing that just leads me to use Microsoft Office or iWork for my journals because at least they have a simple means of syncing.
  • Old reviews need to be updated

One of the problems with internet searches is that you often find information that is no longer current. There are a number of reviews out there that praise this application and the ability to sync joournals over icloud. That option no longer exists and this is one more of the dozens of apps that now wants a monthly fee for the ability to sync. The premium level provides a number of features but none are really useful to me except for syncing and I will not pay this much for that one ability.
