  • Doesn’t live up to the hype

While this app may work for other browsers, it stops Safari less than half way through most of the time and completely disables it at other times. Renewing DNS helps for the one search request, then immediately reverts back to the earlier issue. There will be no refund as iTunes does not issue refunds simply for apps that “do not work as expected” so be careful buying this app if you do not have the knowledge to troubleshoot computer problems on your own. While they say they have a support team, and they do respond to emails, it’s more of a “Gee, that’s too bad” type of response than an “let’s work with you and troubleshoot your problem” response. Recommend the developers offer a comment section on their website for customers to bounce ideas off of each other for help. Curious as to why there are so few ratings on this app with the amount of PR they were purported to have received in the news.
  • Works great, and really speeds up page load times.

I have had the free Disconnect pluggin installed for a while, but I recently decided to go ahead and pay for the pro version of the software. Even in the short time I’ve been using the app, I’ve been very happy with it. The app installs a VPN profile in my network settings and filters all requests to known tracking domains, regardless of which application opens them. Prior to setting it up, Safari would slow to a crawl any time I had a non-trivial number of tabs open at any time. Now that I have the Privacy Pro app and corresponding VPN service up and running, Safari actually feels responsive again: I can finally switch tabs without a multi-second delay. This product isn’t intended to be a complete ad blocker (and I don’t necessarily want that), but I have noticed that most egregious of the ad-filled sites that I visit are no longer so overwhelmed by over the top ads. The sites I visit with a reasonable number of thoughtful ads still present those ads, which is exactly what I would want to see. One more note: I have been using a separate VPN service for years, and I was somewhat concerned that the Privacy Pro app wouldn’t interoperate with that service. So far, I’ve had no problem with using both services side-by-side. The VPN for Privacy Pro does not seem have any problem doing it’s thing while I’m connected to a separate VPN. That was a welcome discovery, because it isn’t clear that Privacy Pro is actually providing any encryption, just filtering.
  • Killed Mail, Browsing, & all network access

I installed this app, and as soon as I turned it on, my browser could no longer access any web sites (including the site. The AppStore could not get back to here. Mail could not get to the mail servers. All networking was blocked. DO NOT WASTE YOU MONEY
  • Easy and it works

I am using the 1.1.0 version of the app. It is easy to use. I am able to connect with Chrome and Safari — no problems. I understand it works with apps too. To turn on, I did this - Opened the app - Turned it on in the menu The first time, I saw the shield after about 10 seconds. The next times, it was instantaneous.
  • Doesn’t Work

  • How can I get my money back

    By Mamsy70
This application is not opening is a waste of money, Can one othe developers contact me I would like my money back asap
  • Just got it going

    By bubbajess
I had the same experience as most, it seems. I read about this in the New York Times and bought it. Then I read the reviews. It took some work to get it going on the system. I e mailed the company, and they request I go to the Activity Monitor. I found the Privacy Pro in Memory, with a ghost icon. I clicked that and then it appeared on the menu bar as a ghost. I clicked that and the drop down menu has Turn on as the first choice, so I turned it on and the icon filled in. I then clicked start at log on (see picture above) and all seems to be working now. I took a star away because of the work around with the program to get it going.
  • Not good at all!

    By TrebronG
I’ve been using the free browser version of Disconnect (extensions). It seamed to be working good, sohowed the blocked sites, had a progress view area… I had great hope for the “PRO” version, but it was a bad idea and a waste of $40! The control and settings are NONEXISTENT! and i can also confirm that even you select the “start at login” option…. It will NOT start at the login, so you have to do it manually. And to actually make this software tottaly the opposit of there claim: “44% Faster” you have to know that even a simple google search going to fail! And to confirm this I was tring with and without the Privicy Pro. So it is DEFINATELY the one which makes the whole internet experience: FAIL! (errors and timeout messages) So If any of the Privicy Pro Team members are reading this, It would be great if they are make this thing work, or kindly refund my money!
